Mavunodowntown began with a group of about 40 people on June 4th 2006 at the Tintin Restaurant at the Kenya International Conference Center, in the first ten months of existence, the group swelled to over one hundred people. |

Our mission at Downtown is transforming everyday people to radically impact our world. We believe that churches all over the world are called to be united under Christ [John 17]. This means that though they are different in many ways, they should have interactive positive relationships just as individuals do. We at MavunoDowntown have some relationships with churches both in and outside Nairobi with which we have strong, positive interactive relationships. |

| Nairobi was once called the “green city in the sun”. ‘Nairobi‘, a Maasai word means place of cool waters. The Nairobi River runs through it from West to East. It grew as a business center in the early 1900’s with the passage of the railway from Mombasa, on the Kenyan coast, to Kampala in Uganda. |
